Nashville in One Day

Had the opportunity to pass through Nashville on my way to West Tennessee last week. Just hours before I arrived, the news broke that legendary songwriter and country music artist Dolly Parton had passed. Needless to say, tributes were quick to come online, but also showed up around the city. Dolly Parton made great use of her many talents, and in doing so made the most of her time here on Earth. She'll truly be missed.

With one on my children in tow, I was looking forward to seeing the city after many years away. There are always the sights, and we checked out Broadway, Music Row, and the Parthenon. But a tremendous part what makes Nashville great is the people, and we got to talk with a few.

Falling, my Domestic Thriller Novel

While no scenes in my novel Falling are set in Nashville, it looms large in my characters' pasts. Both Ryan and Cassady met there before moving back to Ohio. Years ago, I traveled there frequently for work--sometimes every week--so it was a big part of my life, too.

Now that time has passed, I'm looking to explore how it's changed, and will do so in a future book. That's also one of the themes of the series I'm writing, which is how places change and how that transforms the people who live in them. And my friends from Tennessee keep telling me that Nashville has changed quite a bit.

Our time in the city was short, because we were on the way to Memphis. But Nashville never disappoints! We had a great 18 hours.
